Description

As an introduction to this unit, I find it necessary to discuss the myths commonly associated with the west. Students often come into school with ideas about “cowboys and Indians,” or even ideas they’ve learned from video games or pop culture. With this lesson, the teacher will introduce students to 6 common myths about the west. Then, students will debunk those myths by looking at the evidence. As this is one of the first assignments of the school year, links are provided to students, and the questions are written specifically to help students narrow in on the information. You can view more in the preview hereMyths of the American West.
