This lesson breaks down the timeless words of the Gettysburg Address into an easy format for students. The students will close read the text, decipher the vocabulary, and then connect Lincoln’s words to the past, present and future of the United States.
The lesson is linked to the NYS Social Studies Framework, but you could easily cut and paste in your own standards for your state.
NYS Standard – 7.8d – The course and outcome of the Civil War were influenced by strategic leaders from both the North and South, decisive battles, and military strategy and technology that utilized the region’s geography.
