Description

The Enduring Issues Essay will be the new essay required by the New York State Regents Exam. I’ve already begun preparing my seventh grade students by having them write a scaffolded Enduring Issues essay as their final exam at the end of the school year.

This essay provides 5 documents that cover various topics from throughout the school year (7th grade Social Studies in NYS). With this packet, students are provided with a list of three enduring issues, and then they are prompted to annotate 5 primary sources with the historical context and the possible enduring issue connections.

A graphic organizer is also included to scaffold the writing process for students.

This packet is fully editable. Both Power Point and Google Slides versions (a link) are provided along with the PDF. This way, you can customize or modify elements of the writing process to meet the needs of your classroom. I’ve included digital and classroom versions also!
