Description

This unit plan contains standards-aligned and engaging student-centered lessons relating to the the Great Depression. Students will analyze the events that led to the Great Depression, the hardships Americans endured, and the transformative nature of the New Deal through visually detailed and engaging lessons. There are two versions of a skill-based assessment included.

Lessons include a cooperative stations activity relating to the causes of the Great Depression, a collaborative DBQ discussing migration during the 1930s, a digital exploration of photographs taken during the 1930s, and a clearly written guide to the New Deal. Students will review the era by playing a game that takes them through the major events (this is optional). The assessment for this unit is written to assess both students understanding of the content of the era and to develop their historical thinking skills.
