Description
With this lesson, students will analyze events/people who resisted slavery. There are 10 profiles, including:
- Frederick Douglass
- The Amistad
- Harriet Beecher Stowe
- The Pearl Incident
- William Lloyd Garrison
- Angelina and Sarah Grimke
- Sojourner Truth
- Harriet Tubman
- Nat Turner
- Denmark Vesey
Students will analyze each profile to answer some biographical questions, and then more critical thinking questions. There are many possibilities for formative assessment including, a Jamboard hexagonal activity for distance learning, hexagonal tiles for cooperative learning, and a mind map exit ticket.
