John Adams Presidency XYZ Affair Alien and Sedition Acts Election of 1796

Description

This lesson discusses the main aspects of John Adams’ Presidency, including, the XYZ Affair, the Alien and Sedition Acts, trade issues, and the elections of 1796 and 1800.

I’ve included a variety of lesson option to meet the needs of teachers. There is a classroom handout, a Pear Deck version, and a version that can be assigned in Google Slides.

This lesson plan is linked with NYS Social Studies standards, however, I’m sure you could add your own.  It includes a 2 page lesson plan, a 2 page historical background, an 11 page slideshow with built in assessment questions and a short exit ticket to check for understanding. In the exit tickets, students will write John Adams Twitter messages!
